Premiere of the new cycling race on July 3, 2022

On July 3, 2022, a new race for cyclists will get underway on Berlin's streets. The event, which is open to everyone, is themed "VeloCity - The Power of Berlin." The organiser behind it is SCC EVENTS, the specialist for major sporting events. The BMW BERLIN-MARATHON alone attracts up to 50,000 participants every year.

A unique cycling event in Berlin

Recently, cycling competitions in Berlin had pretty much come to a quiet halt. With the new format "VeloCity - The Power of Berlin." a promising event is now in the starting blocks. The slogan "VeloCity - The Power of Berlin." conveys two messages: on the one hand, it represents the speed with which one can race through Berlin on a bicycle along closed streets, and on the other hand, of course, it refers to the power that Berlin conveys to the participants on this "guided city tour of a different kind". The atmosphere and ambience are unique, as it takes place in the middle of the city, around the Brandenburg Gate.

Many highlights along the cycling route

You can choose between a 60 km and a 90 km event. While many cycling races lead along lonely country roads, the circuit at VeloCity is a spectacular inner-city course. The entire course is closed to car traffic. Almost all the sightseeing highlights of the German capital will be explored on wheels. The finish will take place in the shadows of the Brandenburg Gate on the grand boulevard, Strasse des 17. Juni.

A cycling event for everyone

The VeloCity Berlin is a pure age group race (see regulations) for everyone and therefore suitable for a wide target group from recreational cyclists to amateur athletes. The only requirements are: using a bicycle with two independently functioning brakes, wearing a helmet and having enough power in your legs for at least 60 kilometres.

Everything from Dutch bikes to racing bikes is allowed, with the exception of time trial bikes, tandems and e-bikes. Friends, colleagues and club members can also register for a team classification, in which the five fastest cyclists will be scored.

Expo and junior race

The sporting event is designed to be an event for the whole family. The day before the adults get started on Sunday, the youngsters, from those using walking bikes to 12-year-olds on racing bikes, can get a taste of the racing atmosphere over various distances along the Strasse des 17. Juni. The whole family is "qualified" to race, and thus the framework for an overall sporty weekend is established. The accompanying expo offers the perfect presentation opportunities for manufacturers and dealers to reach a cycling-savvy audience, and it is centrally located in the start/finish area of the event. Special hotel contingents are available for those interested. Additional questions are answered in the FAQ.
