Event update from April 30th, 2020
AVON Women's Race Berlin cannot take place in 2020 - We still support the Berlin Cancer Society together
According to the ordinance on the prohibition of major events due to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic (§ 32 sentence 1 of the Infection Protection Act), events with more than 1,000 participants are prohibited until August 31, 2020 as well as events with more than 5,000 participants are prohibited by the responsible Berlin authorities until October 24, 2020. We have examined various options in the last days.
Now we have to cancel the largest charity run in Germany in the fight against breast cancer due to the ordinance described above. The disappointment, but also the understanding, was great on all sides, especially since the current dimensions of this crisis now go far beyond the sport.
Next steps and the choices
All participants received this message and information on how to proceed by email today. Our service provider mika:timing has been commissioned by us to send you a personalized link next week, which you can use to make the following selection:
- Donation of your participation fee to our official charity partner, the Berlin Cancer Society. The donation of your participation fee goes directly into the establishment and further development of counselling locations for cancer patients in the Berlin districts. More information on this project see below.
- Transfer the right to start to the AVON Women’s Race on May 8, 2021
- Refund of the participation fees and all additional services you might have booked (minus the agreed donation of 1 euro) to the bank account or credit card used for registration. The agreed donation supports the hardship fund of the Berlin Cancer Society.
Even if the AVON Women's Race Berlin cannot take place in 2020, we still want to collect donations for the Berlin Cancer Society. Our title partner AVON is making a big donation step.
AVON Cosmetics donates 20,000 euros to the Berlin Cancer Society
AVON has been fighting breast cancer for decades and will continue to do so in 2020. The AVON Women’s Race Berlin cannot take place on May 16, 2020, as planned, but the planned donation to the Berlin Cancer Society is a matter close to the heart for the beauty company. That is why AVON is supporting the hardship fund with 20,000 euros this year.
The participants can achieve a lot for cancer patients in Berlin's districts
The donation of your participation fee goes directly into the establishment and further development of counselling locations for cancer patients in the Berlin districts. There is a great need for cancer care in Berlin. Every year 17,000 people in our city are diagnosed with cancer. The Berlin Cancer Society will therefore open a new counselling facility in Marzahn-Hellersdorf as soon as the development of the coronavirus permits. There, cancer patients and their relatives will be supported by psychologists specially trained in the topic of cancer. The Berlin Cancer Society already provides advice to cancer patients at four locations in Mitte, Spandau, Treptow-Köpenick and Wedding. The new facility in Marzahn-Hellersdorf makes it easier for many in the east of our city to reach the free services of the Cancer Society without having to travel long distances. In the future, locations in other districts of Berlin are to follow.
Regardless of your decision, we look forward to seeing you again on the running and walking course.
Let us hope that we can weather this crisis quickly and, above all, healthily. We remain optimistic.

Event update from April 23rd, 2020
Over the past few months, we have been eagerly planning the AVON Women’s Race Berlin, along with smaller events around this very special day. It makes us very sad that the AVON Women's Race Berlin cannot take place on May 16, 2020, as planned.
According to the ordinance on the prohibition of major events due to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic (§ 32 sentence 1 of the Infection Protection Act), events with more than 1,000 participants are prohibited by the responsible Berlin authorities until August 31, 2020. This is intended to slow down the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Of course, we understand this measure.
We need a few days to implement the further procedure and to examine various options in order to coordinate with all contact persons. In addition, we cannot work in full team strength on the upcoming tasks at the moment; like many others, the SCC EVENTS team is currently working part time.
We will contact you at the end of next week with details about the further procedure concerning the AVON Women’s Race Berlin. Until then, please refrain from contacting us by mail, phone, contact form and via social media channels.
